Summus Hearing Solutions Inc.

At Summus Hearing Solutions Inc., we are committed to protecting your privacy while providing technology that gives you a meaningful and safe online experience. We believe our users have a right to know our practices regarding the information we may collect when you visit our family of websites or use our hearing health screening devices, as well as what type of information is collected.

As we are based in Canada, we have adopted the following Privacy Policy in accordance to, and compliant with, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) which outlines the 10 principles that businesses must follow. For more information about PIPEDA, please visit the website of the Privacy Commission of Canada here. By using our websites or hearing screening devices you consent to the data practices described in this statement. This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Use.

Collection and Use of Personal Information: The guidelines contained herein apply only to your visits to our websites and/or use of our hearing health screening devices. During your website visits, we may collect personally identifiable information such as your name and address, email contact and telephone number. This information can also include your IP address, browser type, access time and referring website addresses. If so, we will use this information to provide general statistics regarding visits, operate and maintain the quality of our services and, when appropriate, deliver customized content to our customers.

Other sites which are linked to/from our sites may have different policies. Should you be concerned, please review the privacy policy notices on those sites for details.

While Summus Hearing Solutions Inc. does not require that you provide us with personally identifiable information when using our hearing health screening devices, you are encouraged to do so in order to learn more about your hearing health and what actions might be taken to preserve or enhance it. Please note, however, that to participate fully in some activities, it will be necessary for you to provide this information.

When you use one of our hearing health screening devices, we usually collect your name, phone number, email address and test results. By continuing to the next step, you are consenting to have our system automatically recognize, collect, and store such information, in order to report to you, update your progress as well as, when you request, provide information to trusted advisors like your doctor and/or hearing health professional.

We will not share the personal information you provide with any other party except as may be required by law or court order. If you chose to create an account with us or take a note of the test ID, you have a right to unsubscribe and delete your personal information from our systems.

Security of your Personal Information: Summus Hearing Solutions Inc. takes great care in maintaining the security of the personal information you allow us to store and share, and in preventing unauthorized access to it. This includes ensuring our computer servers are in a controlled, secure environment protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Summus employs widely respected AWS services to provide encrypted and secure storage for your personal data. When personal information (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites, it is protected by encryption.

While every reasonable step is taken, no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error-free. In particular, email sent to or from the Summus portal may not be safe. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding if you want to receive your results via email or permit us to send information to a hearing professional via email.

We cannot guarantee, however, that unauthorized access will never occur, and Summus Hearing Solutions Inc. will not be responsible for any losses or damages suffered as a result of such unauthorized access. By providing personal information to Summus Hearing Solutions Inc., all users, including without limitation, users in Canada, the United States and member states of the European Union, understand and consent to the collection and processing of such information in Canada.

Screening test accuracy: Summus hearing screening tools ensure that screening test accuracy is matched to the technology used for given test platform. Since some of the screening test platforms are calibrated and some are not, reported absolute hearing loss levels at specific frequencies may have varying accuracy based on the type of headset used. The Summus proprietary AI algorithm attempts to compensate for such inaccuracies to provide you with realistic view of your hearing health. However full diagnosis can only be performed by licensed hearing professional with the related experience.

The terms of this policy will govern the use of any information collected while it is in place. We reserve the right to change it at any time, so please re-visit this page as often as you deem appropriate.

We welcome your comments. If you have any questions or concerns about our personal information practices or about this Privacy Policy, please feel free to send us an email at: [email protected].
